Abstract
Under the conditions of rapidly changing global economy stimulating and using skills as intended will to a large extent determine our capacities for developing innovations and growth, as well as maintenance of our social model. When it comes to labour market skills, vocational education and training cannot be looked into separated from it. Nevertheless, for too many young people and their parents initial vocational education and training remains a second choice and only few workers stand the chance of further development of their skills.
Vocational education and training could become more attractive only if people believe in its results and if it provides students more opportunities for vocational experience.
The subject of this study is the impact of vocational education and training on key parameters of the labour market such as employment and unemployment. The development of vocational education and training is being analysed; a number of challenges are emerging for systematic improvement.
