Nasselenie Review is a specialized academic journal on demography.
The journal is anonymously peer-reviewed and published twice a year. Original manuscripts not published in other paper or electronic publications are accepted for publication which examine population and labour force development and reproduction. Manuscripts can be submitted in Bulgarian, English and Russian.
Since 2024, Nasselenie Review provides instant free access to its content based on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports the wider global exchange of knowledge.

Academic journal on demography
Nasselenie Review was established in 1983 as a thematic series “Nasselenie” (Population) published by the Coordinating Council for Demography at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. It continues to be published as Nasselenie Review – publication of the Academic Unit of Demography at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Since 2010 the journal is published by the Institute for Population and Human Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Nasselenie Review is the only academic periodical on demography in Bulgaria. It publishes original studies on population development and reproduction as well as on the influence of economic, social, medical, historical, psychological and other factors. The journal publishes empirical research results, methodological and theoretical developments, translated articles by foreign authors, book reviews and other materials.

The main task of the journal is to present topical demographic issues and the results of their study, to provide a space for scientific debate and to inform the authorities and the general public.
